Life is full of huge, arduous questions. Are we alone in the universe? Why do movie characters never say “farewell” before disconnection? How do you pronounce Ahrefs?
I can answer one of these questions. (I’m sorry, the universe is above my salary assessment.)
I work at Ahrefs and pronounce Ahrefs like “H-Refs”. This is what we say at company meetings, interviews, sales conversations, YouTube films and everyday life. Yes – “A” is noiseless.
Here’s how it looks like the apply of an international phonetic alphabet:
/eɪʧ-rɛfs/
/eɪtʃ/ → “H” as in the name of the letters
/rɛfs/ → “Ref” as in “references”
And if you want to hear As it sounds, this is Rob from our corporate team, talking about it:
But that’s the point: Ahrefs is used all over the world, and this means that Ahrefs is clear Otherwise all over the world.
“H-Ref” may be an official pronunciation, but we have heard hundreds of different shots on the name of our company, from the British “Ay-Aych-Ref” to Indian “Aah-Ref” to Klingon “Ah-Ref” (seriously). We think that They are also quite amazing.
