Although still <1% of total movement, this is now our highest converting channel at 10%+ CVR (according to our up-to-date non -standard tracking of events in internet analysis).
I wanted to check if other sites are experiencing AI movement increases-especially now when zero-closes were searched.
We decided to update the findings of our March AI traffic research when we were at it.
With the facilitate XIBEIJIAAmazing scientist from Ahrefs data, we analyzed 81,947 sites (in March with ~ 35,000) to understand more about the AI movement today.
Over the past year, the search movement of the average site has fallen by about 21%, and its AI movement increased about 10 times.
By going through your own CTR research, this decline in search movement is probably the work of AI and AI mode.
The AIO/AIM movement is currently being followed as a “search” movement in website analytical tools. According to Patrick Stox, these features are not “broken in a way that can be reliably followed.”
In other words, we can’t yet filter between “customary search” and “AI search”. So, although we compared “search movement” and “AI movement” in this study, part of this “search movement” will be technically managed by AI functions.
Despite what we have seen in Ahrefs data, medium movement AI does not seem significantly in the last few months. We saw the peak in April, but May and June fell again.
The AI movement now represents 0.25% of the total movement of the siteon average. This is still a decrease in the ocean, but, as we decided earlier, the AI recommending movement is probably at least somewhat underestimated.
Google is still the most significant source of recommending for all pages in our study, which is 39.35% of all recommending movements-if you have fallen slightly in relation to our last study (-1.79 percentage points).
Sidenote.
Remember that this is not an ideal comparison similar to our March study, because the size of the data set has increased.
Google sends up to 210x more traffic than the “Substantial Three” AI platform – although the gap has narrowed since March, when Google has sent 345x a larger move.
But what immediately jumped out of the latest data capture was the development of chatgpt.
In our previous study, Reddit reported all three main AI platforms (chatgpt, embarrassment and gemini) in total.
Now ChatgPT itself sends a slightly greater traffic than Reddit (+0.05%) and LinkedIn (+0.06%).
The bar is not exactly high here. Reddit and LinkedIn are the notable zero click platforms designed to discourage visits outside the site. Nevertheless, it shows a clear growth.
And it doesn’t end
ChatgPT has increased AI traffic almost individually, increasing 85% from January.
In addition, it strengthened its status as the highest AI> 80% AI movement – 30% from our last study.
The drivers of the AI ”Substantial Three” have also changed since we recently looked – Copilot has returned to activity after a break, and now sends a greater AI movement than Gemini.
In total, this up-to-date trio refers to an average of 0.19% of the complete movement of the site (compared to 0.12% in March).
Wrapping
The AI movement has ever changed there – it has not changed there – but the composition of this movement changes, and we witnessed moderate growth.
Although for now it has equalized, I am sure that even more.
As the AI clicks clicks, they are upstairs – but, as I said before, and will never be a significant source of traffic for most sites.
And there is no world where AI will replace the movement that we enjoyed the search.
After all, you can finally answer the user’s questions.

Of course, AI is not just movement – it drives brand awareness and can pass on more aware users.
But we all have to weigh the value of AI for us, individually and be a strategic about how we assign our resources.
