In the film “His three daughters” the character of Carrie Coon, Katie, has stiff ideas about who her sisters are and what they are capable of. When women combine to look after the dying father, these ideas become a barrier to a real relationship and concern for each other.
In this episode, Coon reads Contemporary Love’s essay “A Family Label, UNGRATbled” Harriet Brown. Growing up, the author was never sure if she felt true love. Removing the ideas of her mother and the birth of her daughter to find out what love means. Coon tells an essay with his own experience, describing his early dates as turbulent and reminiscent of relationships that she did not lit up, not love. Until one day, Coon got a letter from her grandmother who changed everything.
